What is All-star Dance?

We're often asked the difference between all-star dance competitions and traditional eisteddfods.

Some main points of difference:

  • Clear and non-objective scoresheet.

  • No wings- everyone is involved and equally important (no stars) as all dancers are expected to play an equal role. It is TEAM dance. As opposed to a troupe. All team members must participate equally and are rewarded for doing so.

  • Physical appearance plays zero role in scoring.

  • Encouraging and supportive class and competition environment.

  • Organised events with exact run order, that runs to time, every time.

  • Safe warm up spaces at events.

    • It has dedicated warm up areas and allotted times for teams to warm up and practice.

    • Only registered coaches and officials allowed in the warm up areas.

  • It’s regulated!

    • Music, content and costumes must be family friendly.

  • Novice and all-star divisions allow for varied abilities.

  • Minimum of 2 judges per routine.

What is Lyrical?

Lyrical is a style of dance created by combining ballet & jazz. It is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song.
